Facelifts

It is in the nature of things that the elastic fibres of the body lose their tone from year to year. The result is increased skin flaccidity in the face and neck.

A wrinkle lift or facelift is a surgical procedure whereby the facial skin and the underlying tissue is tightened to give the face a more youthful appearance.

During a facelift, the facial skin is separated from the underlying fatty deposits and muscles. The fat is removed to model the contours. The facial and neck muscles are tightened. The cosmetic surgeon stretches the skin, removes excess material and sews the incisions so that they are practically invisible after healing.

Thus, a facelift produces visible face-lifting and firmer skin. All incisions are normally positioned so that they are almost invisible when everything is healed. Where exactly the incisions are made and which method is suitable for you depends on the structure of your face and the desired result.

The procedure is performed in the state-of-the-art facilities at the Wiener Privatklinik under local anaesthesia with twilight sleep and normally lasts four to five hours. One can show oneself again after two to three weeks. The face will feel completely normal again ten to twelve weeks after the operation. A facelift can be combined with other procedures concerning the face, such as a lid correction.
