Oncological surgery

Oncological surgery

Oncological surgery is the surgical therapy of solid tumours of the chest region, digestive tract, endocrine organs and soft tissue. As is the case in many other surgical fields, minimally invasive surgical procedures are also becoming more common for cancer operations. Pre or postoperative chemo and/or radiation therapy may be required to allow the removal of the tumour or to minimise the risk of the cancer recurring, depending on the stage of the disease. The close collaboration of surgeons, oncologists (cancer specialists), radiation therapists, pathologists, radiologists and other specialists at a competence centre such as that of the Wiener Privatklinik provides the best chances for success with regard to the cancer OP and the accompanying therapies.
