Dr. Alexander Rokitansky is the Head of the Surgery Department at the Wiener Privatklinik. Over the course of his 40-year career he has carried out over 7.000 surgeries, his areas of expertise including vascular surgery, cardiac/thoracic surgery, surgical oncology, and malformation surgery. In addition to all typical surgical procedures for children and teenagers, he specializes in the treatment of chest wall deformities. He performed more than 800 surgeries on pectus excavatum, also known as funnel chest, and pectus carinatum, popularly known as pigeon chest with excellent results.
His tested treatment methods focus on special surgical procedures, the use of one-piece implants, and additional conservative techniques. For 24 years, he oversaw one of the largest surgery departments for children, adolescents, and adults in Eastern Austria. In the late 1980s, he was the creator and developer of the `small Viennese total artificial heart`, which served as a bridge towards the human heart transplant.
Orthopedic Trauma and Hand Surgery, Microsurgery, and Peripheral Nerve Surgery Specialist
Prof. Univ. Dr. Robert Schmidhammer is a renowned surgeon with more than 35 years of experience and a proven track record of accomplishments. Since 2013 he has been the Head of the Millesi Center for Peripheral Nerve and Brachial Plexus Surgery at the Wiener Privatklinik, which offers comprehensive care for nerve injuries, pain syndromes, and nerve reconstruction, including nerve transplants. His special area of expertise is the surgical treatment of brachial plexus lesions in babies, which typically occur during childbirth.
Dr. Schmidhammer completed his specialized training both in Austria (Linz Accident Hospital), as well as abroad (Mayo Clinic – USA, France, Germany, Switzerland, and South Africa). After receiving his habilitation in 2006, he successfully coordinated the doctoral work and master’s thesis of numerous candidates. He published more than 130 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He is a member of the World Society of Reconstructive Surgery, the Austrian Society for Traumatology, and the Shock Society. He is also a senior scientist in nerve regeneration at the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute for Traumatology in Vienna.

With more than 30 years of experience in the field of pediatric orthopedics, Prof. Univ. Dr. Rudolf Ganger specializes in the treatment of congenital and acquired diseases of the lower extremities. He also has expertise in correcting limb deformities, hip reconstruction and leg lengthening.
Throughout his career, Prof. Univ. Dr. Rudolf Ganger has successfully completed over 9,000 surgeries, with a significant focus on correcting malformations and addressing foot or knee disorders, using the laparoscopic approach every time needed.
Prof. Univ. Dr. Rudolf Ganger is dedicated to perfecting his skills in orthopedic surgery, attending congresses and training courses both in Austria and abroad. This allows him to offer each of his patients a personalized approach and the latest surgical methods and techniques available.
Pediatric, Anesthesia, and General Intensive Care Medicine Specialist
Dr. Christoph Klasen completed his education at the Medical University of Vienna. He pursued specialized training in pediatric and youth medicine, as well as acute care medicine and anesthesia. Furthermore, Dr. Christoph dedicated himself to the field of psychosomatic medicine, earning the title of “doctor for psychosomatics” through additional studies. He also underwent psychotherapy training focused on Katathym creative psychotherapy, under the guidance of the Austrian Society for Autogenic Training and Psychotherapy.
He developed his professional experience in various clinics. In 1994, he began working as a university assistant at the Medical University of Vienna’s Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine, and Pain Medicine. In March 2000, he was appointed senior physician and head of the Surgical Unit at the St. Anna Children’s Hospital. Since April 2010, he has been working as a pediatrician, anesthesiologist, and pain therapist in private practice. He is the founder and managing director of Malacht Children and Youth Medicine.
Pediatric and Pediatric Cardiology Specialist
Dr. Miklos Pinter has over 30 years of experience in general pediatric, with a focus in pediatric cardiology and ultrasound diagnostics. He also specializes in allergology. Before moving to Austria, he finished his medical studies and specialty training in Hungary. For seven years, he was the Head of the Cardiac Outpatient Clinic at the Childrens’ Heart Center in Linz. Afterward, he founded and managed a children’s health centre in Vienna.
His goal is to offer parents and patients fast and efficient assistance, especially when it comes to complex heart conditions, where he can best use his vast diagnosis and treatment expertise. Young patients can be diagnosed very accurately with ultrasound, and it’s one of the least stressful medical procedures for them. With this diagnostic option, dr. Pinter can answer many questions right away and often sees and treats major complications in a timely manner.
Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine Specialist
Prof. Univ. Dr. Peter Marhofer is the Head of Pediatric Anesthesia and Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine at the Medical University of Vienna’s Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care Medicine and Pain Medicine. He is a member of the Regional and Pediatric Anesthesia study group, which pioneered the use of ultrasound in regional anesthesia. Today, this method is widely used, making regional anesthesia safer and more practical.
In cooperation with the Department of Clinical Pharmacology he and his team conduct volunteer studies in regional anesthesia. These studies offer precise data that can be applied to the daily clinical practice. Pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic clinical studies are carried out on adult volunteers while studies on pediatric patients are carried out in the operating room, providing high-quality scientific answers to a variety of clinical concerns.
Pediatric and Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Specialist
Prim. Univ. Prof. Dr. Milen Minkov is the Head of the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine at the Floridsdorf Hospital as well as Consultant for Pediatric Hematology and Head of the International LCH Study Center at St. Anna Children’s Hospital, Vienna. He also teaches special pediatric at Sigmund Freud Private University.
Dr. Minkov completed his medical studies in Moscow and his specialist training in pediatric and pediatric hematology/oncology in Moscow and Vienna. He has a special research interest in Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) – a rare, cancer-like condition that primarily affects children. In 1997, he was the first awardee of the Mark Nesbit Award for Clinical Science of the Histiocyte Society and is currently President of the Histiocyte Society.
ENT Specialist
Univ. Prof. Dr. Berit Schneider-Stickler is one of Europe’s leading specialists in functional voice classification and diagnosis, with a PhD in this field. She has completed specialist courses at Charitè / Humboldt University in Berlin as well as in Essen and is currently Deputy Head of the Clinical Department of Speech-Language Pathology at the University Clinic for Diseases of the Ear, Nose and Throat of the Vienna General Hospital.
Univ. Prof. Dr. Schneider-Stickler has an extensive academic background, lecturing at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts/Antonio Salieri Institute (singing in music education), the University of Applied Sciences in Wiener Neustadt and the Academy for Speech-Language Pathology-Audiological Services in Vienna.

Dr. Alexander Springer is a specialist in pediatric urology (FEAPU). His competences include laparoscopic urology, vesicoureteral reflux, urogenital reconstruction, and hypospadias. He is a member of the European Academy of Pediatric Urology and, throughout his career, has had an intense scientific activity, attending conferences and training courses in Austria, Germany, England, USA, Poland, and Spain.
Pediatric Specialist
Prim. Prof. Dr. Peter Voitl is a specialist in pediatric and adolescent medicine. His expertise includes pediatric cardiology, pediatric pulmonology, and pediatric intensive care. He also specialized in pediatric radiography: hip, abdomen, kidney, and bladder.
He has a PhD in medical sciences and an MBA in HealthCare Management. Currently, he is guiding new generations of physicians, being professor at the Medical University of Vienna and working as an assistant professor at the Sigmund Freud University.
Prim. Prof. Dr. Peter Voitl is the founder and medical director of the Children’s Health Centre Donaustadt and head of the Mobile Children’s Healthcare Association, Vienna. He is also involved in research and scientific work and is the author of several studies as well as books in pediatric.
The so-called Hirschsprung’s disease is a typical surgical disease of childhood in which a severe genetically triggered nervous motility disorder of the inestine is present. In the majority, boys are more frequently affected than girls. It occurs in approximately 1:5000 births.
In the majority of cases, a funnel-shaped depression of the anterior chest wall develops, especially during puberty. The cause lies in an insufficiently mechanically firm sternum in the context of the growing organism.
