Medical Services

We bring together all available clinical capabilities around individual needs to provide an accurate diagnosis and a personalised treatment plan, leading to the best possible outcome for each patient.

Accurate diagnosis and second opinion

An accurate diagnosis is the step of identifying specific information, integrating the collected data, and generating a complete solution to ensure an improved patient experience and better long-term outcomes.

Multidisciplinary Oncology Commission

The Multidisciplinary Oncology Commission is a team of experts who meet regularly to review various medical cases and determine the optimal treatment plan for each patient.

Targeted personalised treatment

In personalised cancer treatment, dedicated experts target specific molecules that allow cancer cells to grow and spread throughout the body.

Oncological Surgery

The surgical team is formed of experienced specialists with expertise in the latest surgical methods and techniques. Surgical treatment is indicated in a large range of oncological conditions.

Robotic Surgery

Precision and safety during operations at WPK Hospital with the help of robotic surgery systems. The Da Vinci Intuitive Surgical System will be used for a wide range of minimally invasive surgeries such as oncological, urological, gynecological and visceral surgery.

Immuno-oncology

Immuno-oncology therapies activate the cancer patient’s immune system, enabling it to recognise and destroy tumour cells. New immuno-oncology compounds are constantly being registered for many types of cancer.

Radiotherapy

Patients who receive an indication for radiotherapy can have the necessary sessions in the Amethyst Radiotherapy partner clinic, located in the WPK hospital. The specialist works with the treating physicians to provide each patient with individualised treatment.

Prevention & Screening

The Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Department of the WPK Central European Academy Cancer Center offers a diverse range of services designed to help you reduce your individual risk of developing cancer.

Accurate diagnosis and second opinion

An accurate diagnosis is the step of identifying specific information, integrating the collected data, and generating a complete solution to ensure an improved patient experience and better long-term outcomes.

At the WPK CEACC Oncology Centre, every patient can benefit from diagnosis using the tools of precise medicine: molecular pathology analyses, including liquid biopsies and customized radiological investigations.

If you’re not sure about the medical recommendations you’ve received previously, contact us for a second opinion. Our team of top specialists will make an objective assessment of your medical records to ensure that the diagnosis is correct and the appropriate treatment is being administered.

Multidisciplinary Oncology Commission

The Multidisciplinary Oncology Commission is a team of experts who meet regularly to review various medical cases and determine the optimal treatment plan for each patient, with new perspectives from the specialties involved, contributing decisively to this process. The committee includes pathologists, surgeons, oncologists, radiologists, and, depending on the case, new experts such as plastic surgeons, gynecologists or urologists may also join.

Targeted personalised treatment

In personalised cancer treatment, dedicated experts target specific molecules that allow cancer cells to grow and spread throughout the body. The field of molecular medicine is constantly evolving, and every year researchers discover new markers for which they create and test innovative drugs. Targeted treatment recommendations are based on biopsies that track changes in the tumor, requiring constant adaptation of treatment.

Robotic Surgery

Wiener Privatklinik is consolidating its position as a pioneer in complex surgery by recently implementing a new robotic system for surgery – the Da Vinci Intuitive system. With the new surgical technology, patients experience faster recovery, lower risk of bleeding and infection, reduced pain during recovery and smaller scar sizes after surgery.

We are pleased to offer our surgeons and patients access to some of the most advanced robotic surgical equipment available. The Da Vinci allows us to operate with increased visibility, which ensures greater precision. Incisions are small and recovery time short.” – Univ. Dr. Alexander Rokitansky, Director of Surgery at WPK Hospital.

New immuno-oncology compounds are constantly being registered for many types of cancer, leading to the development of revolutionary treatments. Evidence from clinical trials shows that the results of immuno-oncology therapies are effective for long periods of time. This innovative feature of immunotherapy offers the hope of a long and good quality life for many patients whose prognosis would have been poor in the past.

Prevention & Screening

The Cancer Prevention and Early Detection Department of the WPK Central European Academy Cancer Center offers a diverse range of services designed to help you reduce your individual risk of developing cancer or detect the condition at an early stage when it can be easily treated and cured.

Screening techniques used include:

  • Genetic and serological testing for markers associated with hereditary/genetic risks;
  • Endoscopies, minimally invasive image-guided biopsies;
  • PET-CT, MRI, nuclear medicine investigations;
  • Diet, physiotherapy and exercise recommendations.

Urology

The perfect combination of state-of-the-art technology and exceptional service standards makes us the only private hospital in Austria to offer a full spectrum of treatment: staging, clinical tumour picture, preparation, therapy and post-treatment follow-up.

A representative number of first-class urologists work at the Wiener Privatklinik, treating not only prostate cancer but also enlarged prostate, erectile dysfunction or testosterone deficiency.

"We recommend that all men over the age of 45 have regular annual screenings and even more often for those at high risk or who already have prostate cancer."
Prim Dr. Wolfgang LOIDL
Urology and Robotic Surgery Specialist

Oncological Surgery

The oncology surgery team at the WPK Central European Academy Oncology Centre is formed by experts experienced in the latest surgical methods and techniques. Surgical treatment is indicated in a wide range of oncological conditions.

Abdominal Cancer

Abdominal cancer refers to a variety of cancers that affect the organs of the digestive system, including the stomach, liver, large intestine, small intestine, pancreas, gallbladder, esophagus. Patients with such conditions can benefit from a multidisciplinary approach that integrates oncology and state-of-the-art surgery through minimally invasive, laparoscopic and cytoreductive surgical techniques.

"Nowadays peritoneal metastasis should no longer be considered an incurable disease."
Dr. Thomas Bachleitner-Hoffmann
Associate Professor in Surgery

Gynecological Cancers

The WPK CEACC Oncology Centre runs the largest gynecological oncology unit in Austria, with expertise in the surgical and medical treatment of all types and stages of malignant tumours (ovarian, endometrial, cervical and vulvar cancer). The range of therapeutic procedures includes minimally invasive, fertility-sparing interventions, evaluations using the sentinel ganglion technique as well as complex surgical interventions.

"When you have cancer, the best expertise and skills in the field are essential for successful treatment."
Univ. Prof. Dr. Alexander REINTHALLER

Colorectal Cancer

In addition to the fear of cancer, most patients facing this diagnosis fear they will lose bowel control and have to live with a colostomy (abdominal pouch). That’s why our team of colorectal surgeons, with extensive expertise in cancer surgery, places a special emphasis on tissue preservation and continence function, managing to reduce the need for colostomy to less than 10% for patients.

"Thanks to our specialization in minimally invasive surgery, our patients benefit from the best possible oncological outcomes, coupled with rapid recovery and low morbidity."

The Multidisciplinary Oncology Commission recommends to patients the optimal treatment solutions to achieve the best results, including rehabilitation of post-surgery effects such as voice problems or swallowing difficulties.

"The treatment of head and neck tumors is complex. It requires a lot of experience and a multidisciplinary team from surgery, radiotherapy, oncology, histology, logopedics and radiology. This expertise from all these disciplines is available at WPK CEACC Oncology Centre."
Assoc. Prof. Priv. Doz. Dr. Markus BRUNNER, MBA
ENT Surgery Specialist

Skin cancer

Skin cancer – the abnormal growth of skin cells – most often develops on skin exposed to the sun. But this common form of cancer can also occur in areas of the skin not normally exposed to sunlight.

"In the very early stages of melanoma, the survival rate is 99%. It drops to 63% when the disease reaches the lymph nodes and to 27% when the melanoma metastasises to organs such as the lungs and liver."
Priv. Doz. Dr Christiane THALLINGER, MSc, MBA
Dermato-oncology Specialist

Bone and soft tissue tumour

Bone and soft tissue tumours are diseases that often affect children, young people and sometimes adults, with serious consequences in the absence of adequate treatment. Surgery and modern chemotherapy can save the life of the patient diagnosed with such a disease, as well as the affected limb. The Wiener Privatklinik’s Centre for Bone and soft Tissue Tumours combines the expertise of leading specialists with modern care facilities.

"Even in the case of tumors present in large bone or soft tissue formations, surgical intervention can save limbs, avoiding amputation in more than 95% of cases."

Patient reviews

I received the full support of the Wiener Privatklinik team from the appointment to the recommendation of the best physician. Because I couldn't find the prescribed medicines in the country, they helped me by buying them from Vienna. The effect of the treatment was felt even after the first days.

I have been a patient of the Wiener Privatklinik for 6 years and I am grateful to the whole team who helped me to overcome a cancer condition. I had the support of both the team in Bucharest, who helped me every time with appointments with specialists, and in Vienna, where I received assistance in Romanian, accompaniment to consultations and treatment. I know that I had the best treatment because here I got a new chance at life and beat cancer.
