Urology

The Department of Urology at the Vienna Private Clinic treats prostate cancer, prostate enlargement, erectile dysfunction and testosterone deficiency, among other things. With state-of-the-art technology and good infrastructure, excellent therapies and respectful care, we offer the complete range of treatments under one roof: staging, tumour board, surgery preparation, therapy and aftercare – and we are the only private clinic in Austria to do so.

Urological screening: early detection saves lives

From the age of 45, annual urological check-ups are recommended to prevent serious diseases of the kidneys, bladder and prostate. These urological diseases can go unnoticed for a long time before they cause symptoms. It is therefore crucial to recognise them at an early stage. Early diagnosis not only improves treatment options, but can also prevent serious health consequences. Prevention is the best protection for your urological health.

“The earlier prostate cancer is detected, the better the chances of recovery. Today, modern screening programs enable diagnosis at very early stages – this opens up completely new therapeutic options: from focal procedures with preservation of the prostate to robot-assisted surgery for advanced tumors. It is important that each patient finds the best therapy for them individually – this requires time, information and experience.”

Stockholm3 test: a new era in prostate cancer diagnostics

The Stockholm3 test revolutionises the early detection of prostate cancer and sets new standards in personalised screening. While the PSA value is often only of limited value, the Stockholm3 blood test combines genetic markers, proteins and clinical data to provide a more precise risk assessment. Studies show that it is not only more reliable than the PSA test, but also reduces unnecessary biopsies by up to 76%. We are proud that this innovative prostate test is available exclusively at the Vienna Private Clinic.

State-of-the-art diagnostics for more precise prostate cancer screening

PSA test: Proven but limited method

The PSA test has been a standard instrument for the early detection of prostate cancer for decades, alongside the palpation test. It measures the level of prostate-specific antigen (PSA) in the blood and serves as an initial indication of possible prostate changes. An elevated value can indicate cancer, but benign diseases such as prostate enlargement or inflammation also cause fluctuations, which can lead to unnecessary biopsies.

Stockholm3: More precision through excellent diagnostics

The possibilities of the Stockholm3 test go far beyond those of the PSA value and combine genetic biomarkers and proteins with personal factors to enable a much more precise risk assessment. This improves the detection of aggressive tumours and at the same time reduces the risk of unnecessary biopsies. For men with an elevated PSA value in particular, the innovative test offers a reliable aid to deciding whether further diagnostics are necessary.
