
General information about the event
On 23 September 2025, the Wiener Privatklinik is bringing the WPK Academy to Belgrade for the first time. The event will focus on the latest insights and modern treatment approaches in oncology. Leading experts from Vienna and Serbia will share their perspectives on cancer diagnosis, therapy, and interdisciplinary collaboration. In addition to the lectures, participants will have the opportunity to engage directly with the specialists in an open Q&A and connect with colleagues.
Who you’ll see speaking

Univ.-Prof. Dr. h.c. Christoph Zielinski
One of Austria’s leading oncologists, Medical Director of Wiener Privatklinik and Head of the WPK Academy Central European Cancer Center. He has decades of experience in cancer treatment and research, and is committed to bringing the latest scientific advances directly to patient care.

Priv.-Doz. Dr. Johannes Sailer
Consultant in Diagnostic Radiology at the Medical University of Vienna and Scientific Director of the Center for Computational Image Analysis in Radiology. Co-founder of the Radiology Center Vienna, he combines advanced imaging expertise with practical applications for better patient diagnostics.

Univ.-Prof.Dr. Sebastian Schoppmann FACS
Head of the Upper GI Service at the Medical University of Vienna and leader of the Gastroesophageal Tumor Unit. He is internationally experienced in surgical oncology and focuses on improving outcomes for patients with gastrointestinal cancers.

Assoc. Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. Mir Alireza Hoda PhD
Thoracic surgeon specializing in minimally invasive procedures, lung transplantation, and thoracic oncology. He is dedicated to introducing state-of-the-art techniques to improve recovery and quality of life for patients with lung diseases.

Prof. Dr. Goran Barišić
Colorectal surgeon at the Clinical Centre of Serbia, University of Belgrade, known for advancing laparoscopic techniques that speed up recovery. He treats colorectal cancers, functional disorders, and inflammatory bowel diseases with a patient-focused approach.

Prof. Dr. Danijel Galun
General surgeon specializing in complex liver, pancreas, and biliary tract procedures, including minimally invasive and interventional techniques like TACE. He teaches at the University of Belgrade and shares his expertise at international conferences to advance surgical care.

Univ.-Prof. Dr. Georg Schatzl
Specialist in urology and andrology at Wiener Privatklinik, offering discreet, evidence-based care for men’s health. His focus areas include prostate diseases, uro-oncology, and advanced diagnostic techniques such as fusion biopsy.

Dr. Jelena Spasić
Medical oncologist at the Institute for Oncology and Radiology of Serbia, with a focus on lung and gastrointestinal cancers. She is experienced in supportive and palliative oncology, genetic testing for hereditary cancers, and brings international training experience to her patients.

Prof. Dr. Aleksandar P. Simić
Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of Belgrade and a pioneer in minimally invasive gastrointestinal surgery in the region. His expertise includes complex upper GI procedures, with a commitment to introducing innovative techniques that benefit patients.
