Check-up

In addition to a healthy lifestyle, regular check-ups are the best way to minimise health risks. They help to recognise serious illnesses at an early stage – when the chances of recovery are highest – and can therefore increase life expectancy by several years.

Supplementary insurance only covers the cost of the colonoscopy. As a check‑up is considered a preventive examination and no admission diagnosis is made, the remaining examinations are not reimbursed – even in the case of inpatient admission without a medical diagnosis by the attending physician. Please check with your insurance provider in advance whether preventive examinations are covered. Actual coverage and reimbursement may vary depending on your insurance plan. Direct billing is possible if coverage is confirmed.

FAQ

Find the most frequently asked questions about Check UP here.

How does the check-up work?

The check-up begins with an anamnesis interview with an internist (check-up manager). He or she will make the referrals for the planned examinations. The consultation may also result in additional examinations that the doctor deems necessary. The appointments are then organised on site.
This is followed by examinations in the radiology department and by the specialists. The final consultation takes place after all examination results have been presented and can be arranged individually with the doctor.

How long in advance do I need to book a check-up?

We need approx. 3-4 working days lead time for the organisation of the check-up in order to coordinate the appointments with all doctors and to keep the waiting times between the examinations as short as possible.

Can I also do the check-up as an inpatient?

The examinations take place in the day clinic, in the radiology department or in the respective doctor’s surgery. A room can also be booked for the duration of the check-up if this is more convenient for the patient. Please enquire about room rates at the admissions desk. Austrian insurance companies do not cover an inpatient check-up.

Does the supplementary insurance cover the costs?

Supplementary insurance only covers the costs of the colonoscopy. As a check-up is a preventive examination and no admission diagnosis is indicated, supplementary insurance does not cover the costs of other examinations. Not even in the case of an inpatient admission if no disease diagnosis is indicated by the attending physician.

Please speak to your insurance company in advance to find out whether it covers a check-up. If the costs of the check-up are covered, direct billing is also possible.
