TEAMWORK AT WPK
TOGETHER AT THE FOREFRONT OF MEDICINE
This award not only underlines the high quality of medical care at the WPK, but also the outstanding scientific work that is carried out.
About the Stanford List
A benchmark for scientific excellence: The Stanford List is an international ranking that lists the world’s leading experts and institutions in various scientific disciplines. This comprehensive database contains the best scientists in each field and provides the general public with access to the most frequently cited authors, published works and current data on career and professional success. The rankings are based on Scopus data collected over 2 decades and take into account various citation parameters such as total number of citations, Hirsch index and number of citations of papers as sole author.
Interdisciplinary cooperation as the key to success
But it is not only the successes of individuals that are important. “The best of the best” – this motto illustrates WPK’s philosophy. Particular emphasis is placed on interdisciplinary cooperation, which forms the focus of “team works”. WPK’s Cancer Center, for example, acts as a central hub for patients, with specialist disciplines such as radiology, radiotherapy and laboratory diagnostics working together seamlessly. This cooperation is crucial to ensure a precise diagnosis and effective treatment. Radiology provides the critical images that are essential for diagnosis and treatment planning. Radiotherapy uses targeted radiation techniques to treat tumors and control tumor growth. Laboratory diagnostics, in turn, provide detailed insights into the biological characteristics of tumors, enabling tailored treatment strategies.
