The Ordination Center at the Wiener Privatklinik

Hub between Doctor and Patient

The Ordination Center at Wiener Privatklinik offers great advantages for both patients and doctors. Over 50 specialists from a wide range of medical disciplines have their practices in the Ordination Center at the Wiener Privatklinik (WPK). This acts as a hub between doctor and patient and offers both patients and doctors a wide range of benefits.

All-round care

The Ordination Center at Wiener Privatklinik has been offering ordinations on a time-sharing basis for many years. The rooms provided for this purpose take up an entire floor in the Health Service Center at the WPK. Each of the 13 surgeries has a wide range of basic equipment, such as a patient couch, X-ray cabinet, washing facilities, syringe trolley, IT technology such as WLAN, workstation and printer. “We take a lot of tasks off the doctor’s hands so that he can concentrate fully on his medical work,” explains Dipl.-KHBW. Peter Sloup, Administrative Director of the WPK. This means that the medicines and consumables that the doctor routinely uses are automatically procured and restocked by the WPK. The sterilization of medical instruments is also carried out by WPK. A separate team of seven employees is responsible for this, which also takes care of many other administrative matters. “It’s all-round care,” emphasizes Dennis Budde, who heads this team: “Ideally, the doctor comes into the surgery, treats his patients and doesn’t have to worry about anything else.”

The staff prepare invoices, take dictation, deal with the post and are responsible for managing appointments and communicating with patients – including making appointments. The team at the ordination center is available to patients by phone Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. “Patients can pay either directly to the doctor or by referral,” adds Budde. The WPK offers a number of other advantages to those doctors who rent time-sharing space in the ordination center: Presence on the homepage with the option to link to any homepage of their own, branded business cards and the opportunity to present themselves on a board in two languages. Doctors receive intensive support from the team at the surgery center during quality inspections by ÖQMed.

Close connection to the WPK

Larger medical devices such as ultrasound are not part of the basic equipment in the ordinations. However, there are three special rooms in the ordination center that are assigned to specific medical disciplines (ENT, gynecology, ophthalmology). The medical equipment in these rooms belongs to the doctors who have rented space there. “New doctors from these specialties usually make direct agreements with the existing tenants regarding the shared use of this equipment,” explains Director Sloup. Another major advantage is the close connection to all the diagnostic and therapeutic options offered at the WPK. The building also houses the Radiology Center, where short-term appointments for all radiological examinations can be organized quickly and unbureaucratically. The WPK also works with an external laboratory that collects blood samples several times a day so that doctors can take blood samples in their ordination.

Entry into private medicine

“An ordination on a time-sharing basis is an excellent offer for doctors who want to enter private medicine but don’t want to take the risk of opening their own ordination with the associated costs at the beginning,” emphasizes Director Sloup. Those who finally decide to open their own practice with their own staff can also do so directly in the Health Service Center at the WPK: In addition to the ordination center on the second floor, there are fixed ordinations of various sizes for rent on all other floors.
Another advantage of the ordination center is the good networking opportunities between doctors, but also with other attending physicians who treat patients at the WPK. “Many extremely experienced and internationally renowned specialists from the Viennese medical profession work at the WPK. Patients at the ordination center benefit from this expertise when these doctors are consulted by the attending physician as consultants,” explains Director Sloup. The necessary contacts are provided by the head of the ordination center, Budde, who is also the coordinator of WPK’s own network of doctors. “I am the point of contact for doctors who are looking for a colleague from another specialist to help them treat their patient,” emphasizes Budde. He is, of course, also the point of contact for patients who come to the practice center:

“We always have an open ear for all our patients’ concerns.”
