Gynecology at the WPK

COMPETENCE AND HOLISTIC CARE IN EVERY PHASE OF LIFE

The Wiener Privatklinik offers a holistic approach to medical care in the field of gynecology that goes far beyond medical treatment and is based on state-of-the-art technology.

With Prof. Dr. Brigitte Schurz, Assistant Prof. Dr. Daniela Dörfler, Assistant Prof. Dr. Leo Auerbach, Assistant Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Helmut Umek and other renowned specialists in gynecology and obstetrics, patients are offered individual therapies in various specialist areas. Innovative technologies such as the DaVinci robot or the most advanced sonography equipment play a central role here.

State-of-the-art ultrasound technology is at the heart of gynecological care at the WPK. With many years of experience and the latest equipment, precise diagnoses can be made and customized treatment plans developed. Ultrasound is an indispensable diagnostic tool, especially in the care of women with menstrual problems or endometriosis. In addition to this, minimally invasive surgery is one of the most important developments in modern gynecology, with the Da Vinci robot in the clinic enabling highly precise procedures, particularly for myoma removal or endometriosis operations, thus minimizing the stress for patients. This leads to faster recovery, less pain and a lower risk of complications.

Holistic support and individual advice

Gynaecology at the WPK stands out not only for its technical innovations, but also for its holistic care, which creates trust on the one hand and enables comprehensive treatment on the other.

Prof. Dr. Brigitte Schurz, for example, is an experienced expert in the field of gynecological endocrinology. Her particular expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of hormonal disorders perfectly complements the care provided within the interdisciplinary team at WPK. Thanks to her in-depth expertise, she makes a significant contribution to the holistic care of patients. “Through precise hormone regulation, we can make a decisive contribution to improving our patients’ quality of life,” says Prof. Schurz. The specialization of Assistant Professor Dr. Daniela Dörfler, who specializes in sex therapy and clinical sexology in addition to her expertise in gynecology, is also particularly noteworthy. She provides women with comprehensive advice on sexual health issues and accompanies them through sensitive phases such as the menopause or after gynecological operations. Her expertise in sex therapy enables her to respond individually to the psychological and physical challenges that can accompany sexual dysfunctions or hormonal changes. “I see myself as an accompanying doctor for women, almost like an extended family doctor who accompanies patients over many years,” explains Prof. Dörfler.

Special mention should also be made of Associate Professor Dr Leo Auerbach, who is not only an experienced gynecologist but also specializes in complementary cancer therapies. His focus is on the surgical treatment of breast cancer, the treatment of benign breast tumors and senological aesthetic surgery. Dr. Auerbach supports patients with individual treatment plans that are tailored to their specific needs and type of cancer. “It’s important that we don’t just treat the disease, but look at the patient as a whole,” he explains.

Interdisciplinary team for comprehensive care

An outstanding advantage of the Wiener Privatklinik is the close cooperation between its various specialist departments. This closely interlinked work makes it possible to provide comprehensive and efficient care for gynecological patients. Prof. Wolfgang Helmut Umek, leading expert in the field of gynecology, emphasizes: “The close cooperation between the various disciplines within our clinic allows us to use the expertise of the individual specialists quickly and in a targeted manner.” This means that all relevant aspects of medical care are seamlessly integrated in the care of gynecological patients. “We can draw on a comprehensive network for cancer aftercare, endometriosis treatment and care for hormonal disorders,” explains Prof. Umek. Together with his aforementioned colleagues, Prof. Umek is setting new standards in modern gynecology. This close networking and interdisciplinary cooperation is already providing forward-looking medical care that covers all aspects of patient healthcare.
